Services & treatments

Please find details of the podiatry services and treatments I offer at the Kirkheaton Podiatry clinic in Huddersfield. Click on a treatment to find out more. I also stock a range of foot care products and specialist products can be ordered for your individual needs. Please ask at the clinic for more information.

New patient assessment - 45-60 minutes

All new patients will have a comprehensive assessment before any treatment takes place. This includes taking a full medical history, noting any medication you may be taking, and checking your circulation, and your ability to ‘feel’ sensation in your feet.

I’m not doing this to be nosy! This is a requirement to help me understand you and your needs and will help me to give you the best possible treatment.

Your first treatment is also included in this appointment, and we’re often told you leave feeling like you’re walking on air!

Routine treatments - 30 minutes

These sessions include routine toe nail cutting, thinning down of thickened nails, hard skin removal, corn and verrucae reduction, fungal nail treatments and any other aspect of general foot care.

Biomechanical assessment - 45-60 minutes

Pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips and back, can all be due to problems with the mechanics of the foot when walking. A biomechanical assessment looks for the reasons behind these problems. Advice will be given which may involve looking at footwear, giving exercises or providing insoles.

Orthotics

Orthotics are custom made insoles which help to support and correct the position of the foot. A prescription for the insoles will be made at your biomechanical assessment and the insoles are modified to your individual need at your fitting appointment.

Nail surgery

Ingrown toe nails, or those that are very curved at the edges can become painful, and sometimes infected. Nail surgery is a very successful procedure that is carried out under local anaesthetic where a section of the nail, or in some cases, the entire nail is removed, followed by the application of a chemical which prevents the nail growing back again and causing more problems. Patients are required to attend for post operative dressings until the area is healed and all post-operative dressings are included in the package price.
